As part of a mentoring scheme with a branding company in Bristol, I was given a brief that they had been given a few years previously. I was tasked to design a logo and a brand identity for Science City Bristol, a government organisation that is charged with generating interest in science and technology in the Bristol city region as well as providing funding for various research projects and small technology companies.

Hexagons allude to geometry, chemical diagrams and cellular organic forms. I felt they were good signifiers for science without any negative 'mad scientist' associations. Science City Bristol want to be seen as a catalyst for scientific discovery and so I have made the arrangement of forms in the logotype suggest a dynamic explosion or burst of particles. The supporting typography subtly suggests science and technology in a bright and modern way, but with a quirky, human edge.
